Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to share an important and exciting update regarding the future development and growth of our school. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education and opportunities for our students, the governing body recently met with senior colleagues from the local authority to explore the possibility of expanding our provision.

The discussions focused on opening a new site, initially catering to our semi formal / formal students within Key Stage 5. The new provision would occupy part of the Connor Road Education Centre, which would undergo significant renovation and refurbishment ahead of occupancy by The Meadows School.

Following these discussions, the governors have approved the new site in principle, marking an important step forward in enhancing opportunities for our students as they transition into further education, employment, and independent living. This expansion will allow us to create a bespoke learning environment that better meets the needs of our older students, equipping them with the skills and experiences necessary for their next steps.

While plans are still in the early stages, we are committed to ensuring that any future development aligns with the needs and aspirations of our school community and is in line with the needs of the local authority. With the demand for places at The Meadows School continually increasing, we are keen to take pro-active steps to secure the most appropriate facilities, rather than reacting to challenges at a later time.

We understand that this development may raise questions, particularly for families whose children may be eligible to attend the new site from September 2025. In the coming months, we will be arranging individual discussions with these families to provide further details, address any concerns, and ensure a smooth transition for all students involved.

We will continue to keep you updated as plans progress and will engage with the school community at various points within the consultation process. In the meantime, if you have any questions or thoughts you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to create the best possible future for our students.

Yours sincerely,

James Horspool
